Brooke Saunders is a Licensed Resident in Counseling (LPC-R) in Virginia with more than 12 years of experience serving individuals, families, and communities across behavioral health, social services, education, and community-based care. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling from Lindsey Wilson University, graduating with honors and earning a Certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. She is also a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society.

Throughout her career, Brooke has worked in a variety of clinical and helping professions, including outpatient therapy, crisis intervention, community mental health, domestic violence services, case management, special education, and program leadership. These experiences have provided her with a unique understanding of the challenges individuals face across different systems of care and have strengthened her commitment to providing compassionate, effective, and person-centered treatment.

Brooke provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and substance use. Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Strategic Family Therapy, and Family Systems Theory.

Brooke believes that meaningful change often occurs within the context of relationships and the systems in which individuals live. She works collaboratively with clients to strengthen problem-solving abilities, increase interpersonal effectiveness, and develop practical skills that improve daily functioning and relational interactions. While helping clients address immediate concerns and behavioral challenges, she also explores broader family and relational patterns that may contribute to ongoing difficulties.

When appropriate, Brooke utilizes family systems interventions, including genograms and multigenerational assessment tools, to help individuals and families better understand patterns of communication, roles, boundaries, and relationship dynamics across generations. Her goal is to help clients gain insight, build competency, and create healthier, more effective ways of relating to themselves and others.

Her passion for counseling stems from a desire to help individuals move beyond temporary solutions and experience meaningful, lasting change. Brooke believes that healing occurs when people feel heard, understood, and empowered to recognize their own strengths. She strives to create a therapeutic environment built on trust, authenticity, respect, and hope.

Known for her collaborative, compassionate, and down-to-earth approach, Brooke is dedicated to helping clients develop resilience, improve emotional wellness, and achieve personal growth. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate challenges, discover new possibilities, and work toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
